23TRA024 Planning SET sessions for children and groups with Dyspraxia and DCD
Dyspraxia/DCD affects approximately 1-in-10 children in Ireland. Dyspraxia/DCD impacts each child uniquely with areas impacted including gross and fine motor skills, balance, sensory regulation, balance, co-ordination and executive function.
This webinar aims to lay provide a structure approach to planning, developing and facilitating SET sessions with children and groups with dyspraxia and DCD to best meet their needs.
This module will review needs of children with dyspraxia/DCD, developing a session to mee these needs, strategies to help facilitate sessions and how to be flexible during these.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will have a greater understanding of Dyspraxia/DCD and the primary and secondary impacts it may have on children, including physical and psychosocial impacts
- Participants will have gained knowledge of strategies and supports to help most effectively engage children during session
- Participants will have a knowledge of how to effectively plan and develop individual and group sessions for children with dyspraxia and DCD.

Stephen is a qualified occupational therapist and primary school teacher with over 10 years’ experience in the classroom, working in both mainstream and SEN settings. Stephen has worked with Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland and their members in recent times, including the development of the ‘Our say in our schools’ resource for schools by children with Dyspraxia/DCD.
