23TRA082 The Level 1 and Level 2 Learning Programmes Special Schools 2022 - 2023

This webinar will look at the Junior Cycle pathway for students with special educational needs called Level 1 Learning Programmes (L1LPs). L1LPs have been introduced to provide an inclusive, realistic, purposeful, and beneficial education for some of our learners. These students would have an existing individual education plan and would most likely be in a special class placement within a special school or mainstream school setting. We will explore how the Level 1 Learning Programmes (L1LPs) & Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LPs) sit within the Junior Cycle framework, explore the L1LPs & L2LPs, Priority Learning Units, Elements and Learning Outcomes, build on understanding of Level 1 & Level 2 Short Courses and consider how the L1LPs might work in your context.

Bio of Presenter: Gillian Aherne

Gillian Aherne has been teaching in a Special School in Cork since 2005. She teaches students with moderate, severe, and profound learning disabilities. She has also worked part time with the JCT L1LP/L2LP team since 2019. Recently, she has completed her post Grad in Leadership in Education.
